Cari Poulet - a dish from Reunion Island
Bastardised by me on account I served it with bread!
Traditionally it is served with rice.
Obviously I'm still cooking , although I haven't blogged about my foodie venturings in a while. So much to eat and so little time to write about it! Anyway, the picture above is of Cari Poulet which is a bit of a culinary adventure for me in creole cooking Nosh'lette (aka. mying)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10607240970173255067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7026826623696264651.post-87143296999645051402008-08-28T08:45:00.000-07:002008-08-28T09:56:41.514-07:00Nosh Lab : Chicken Rogan Josh.Unfortunately I haven't got any pictures of the product as it was just too yummy that we chowed down before I even got the chance to reach for a snap... The recipe comes from a Guardian supplemental on Baking which I've hoarded since last year.I altered the recipe only slightly, using unrefined sugar (light brown moscavado) and reducing the quantity as I don't really like terribly sweet cakes. I used plain greek yoghurt in the recipe andNosh'lette (aka. mying)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10607240970173255067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7026826623696264651.post-954313956196117092008-01-07T08:41:00.001-08:002008-01-07T08:47:42.552-08:00this is realThe inspiration for this... was a meal from the salad bar at Ponderosa's many years ago. many many choices for salad. and then there was Ice Cream.Fresh sliced button mushrooms and vanilla icecream. Mushroom feels like the texture of marshmallow but the sweetness is from the icecream. Best if it's got vanilla pod bits in the ice cream. Chunky, or sliced. Here I've omitted the nuts because our family aren't big on cooked nuts - but I think a sprinkling of chopped pistachios with the icing might be something to try in version 1.1Ingredients Nosh'lette (aka. mying)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10607240970173255067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7026826623696264651.post-81458703569296806022007-07-24T01:08:00.000-07:002007-07-24T01:31:03.412-07:00Aunty RW's Carrot CakeMy Aunty RW. made what I think of as the closest to ultimate carrot cake.Beautifully moist in texture and ever so easy to put together although admittedly when I made it, I did not follow the original recipe. However it did result in an even simpler to put together carrot cake although I'm still playing around with the process to make the cake more moist. I find that it can get quite stoggy (Nosh'lette (aka. mying)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10607240970173255067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7026826623696264651.post-70976609401335205972007-07-19T06:31:00.001-07:002007-07-19T06:39:38.328-07:00Updates!So back in England now and unfortunately on landing I got really sick with some strange bug I probably caught off the plane - so haven't really done anything other than groan and shiver in bed. I started to make 'Country Wine' in 2005 having tasted the labours of one of my friends who'd been making her own wine for quite a number of years! It was unlike anything I had ever tasted before and that spurred me on to find out how to go about making some of my own.
I bought a book and my first wine kit. A shepherd's pie is made with Lamb mince and a Cottage pie is made with beef. Strictly speaking, this would not be considered either a shepherds or cottage pie and is more of a " Rojak Pie"!Nosh'lette (aka. mying)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10607240970173255067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7026826623696264651.post-88903872484354879462007-02-06T04:47:00.000-08:002007-02-06T09:11:03.909-08:00Other Nosh : Pincilla's aunty's Kerabu Bee HoonThe Nosh'lette says : The Nook is all about the archiving of family recipes - not just my immediate family, but its extended members too.
